The Manager Business Control is responsible for the development of the Business Control Team including engagement and enablement of the Business Controllersand You have anunderstanding the business needs and together with the team you initiate, monitor and improve key KPI’s to achieve the company’s objectives. Ensuring continuous improvement of operations and implementation of new technologies to improve quality and reduction of cost.
What does the Business Control environment look like?
Certis Belchim has a large number of Business Units, mainly in Europe (25+), headed by a Country Manager. The Business Controllers support the Business Units on several aspects:
Lead a team of 5 Business Controllers
Be a sparring partner for the BU Management Teams in the cycle of commercial conditions (sales-, payment-, discount- royalty and rebate conditions)
Calculation of scenario’s and working capital impact for each decision
Initiate, monitor and improve DSO (Days Outstanding) & Stock Risks
Monitor the Credit limit process and Credit Limit risks
Perform controls on the (local) sales and financial recognition of all commercial transactions
Be a linking pin between Business Unit and Global Finance department
Take ownership of the planning and control cycle for the Business Units with respect to:
o Operating Expenses 5-year budget & monthly Last Estimate (‘LE’);
o Slow moving and obsolete stock LE and actions;
o PowerBI dashboards and discuss with the country-, sales- and regional leads.
The Business Control team has a leading role in the D365F&O role out (until Summer 2024) and the aftercare projects (until 2026) to improve the quality of the system & optimize the possibilities of D365F&O platform
The Business Control team focuses on significant automatization, process improvement and digitalization objective (2024 onwards). To make optimal use of the available technology we
should be able to have more predictable information and data/risk could become available already on short notice.
The Business Control team performs Internal Controls on Business Unit and Finance processes.
The Business Controllers have a key role in the monthly-, quarterly and yearly closing process and are first point of contact for the group and local auditors with respect to the topline (sales, cost of sales and margin).
What is the main responsibility of the role Manager Business Control?
In general words, it concerns practical and tactical matters in the field of financial performance, operational excellence (e.g., RPA and AI), compliance issues, risk management, legal issues and other policy issues on tactical level.
The first concrete points that come to attention:
Structure and lead the Business Control expert group (+/- 5) and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Interact as Business Control expert group with all other global departments and ensure and monitor clear handshakes.
Business Controller for the Business unit Crop Protection Germany Austria and for the Business Unit Rail both located in Germany.
Initiate continuous improvement project with respect to:
As a member of the Finance Management Team and sparring partner of the Head of Finance, you contribute to the development and implementation of the strategy.
Monitoring and analysing the financial performance of the Business Unit including performance discussions with responsible management.
Initiating and lead various organization-wide projects, such as gross margin and/or OPEX improvement, RPA & AI applications, dashboarding and development programs.
We are looking for a Manager Business Control who naturally takes on a proactive management role. You are content driven, analytical and able to bring structure, overview and create transparency. You are a connector that gets people on board based on enthusiasm and decisiveness and. In addition, you feel confident in operating within our large (40+ finance colleagues) hands-on entrepreneurial department.
Specifically, we ask:
– Master degree in Finance or a RA/RC (or proven experience in working on this level)
– Experience in a similar financial position with leadership responsibilities
– Willing and able to work abroad:
o At least 2 days a month physical working from the office of Business Unit Germany Austria (Hannover – DE).
o At least 1 day per 2 months working from the office Rail (Bergheim – DE).
o At least 1 day per month from the Office in Londerzeel – BE
o At least 1 day a week from the Utrecht – NL office.
– Fluent in English and proficient in German (or is willing to improve)
